37) Floating Market of Damnoen Saduak

My last day trip in Thailand was to the Floating Market of Damnoen Saduak, about and hour and a half outside of Bangkok.  This market is about 150 years old. River and canal culture in Thailand has a long history, and you will see canal side homes ranging from impoverished to wealthy.

Long boats on the canals. Some are powered, some are not. Given the density of the jungle, in times past this was the fastest and most efficient way to move goods.

Sign along the canal. I didn’t ever find the Cobra show, but just the thought of them being indigenous to this place was un-nerving.
Anacondas are everywhere. This guy is a pet.

For 150 baht you can make a new friend.
He’s a lemur- and a primate same as us, thus a distant evolutionary cousin. Notice the resemblance?
